Hi Everyone,

I'm sure this is ok but i want to double check before i go any further, will i encounter any issues around vMotion or restoring files or whole VM's from backups if I store a VM's extra virtual disk on a different datastore than the VM? more info below

SETUP

VM Datastore 1                         700GB     LUN0     15KSAS RAID10
VM Datastore 2                         700GB     LUN1     15KSAS RAID10

Datastore - SQL & ESXi Logs     200GB     LUN2     15KSAS RAID10

Datastore - Storage 1                 6TB         LUN3     7.2NLSAS RAID6

Datastore - Storage 2                 6TB         LUN3     7.2NLSAS RAID6

THE PLAN

All VM's to be located on VM Datastore 1 and 2, SQL virtual disks that contain DB logs to be located on Datastore - SQL & ESXi Logs and File Server virtual disks and DB files to be located on Datastore - Storage 1 and 2.

VM EXAMPLE

File Server
VM -------------------------------- VM Datastore 1
Virtual Disk (D: drive) ------- Datastore - Storage 1

SQL Server
VM -------------------------------- VM Datastore 2
Virtual Disk (D: drive) ------- Datastore - SQL & ESXi Logs (SQL logs located on this drive)
Virtual Disk (E: drive) ------- Datastore - Storage 2 (DB files located on this drive)

Also if you have any tips on best practice for performance let me know. Thanks in advanced!!
