How to backup files on VMFS from W2K8R2

Hi,

We have 2 sites, and use Veeam to replicate VMs from each site to the other site, from primary storage to secondary (iSCSI). That way we end up with each site having a full set of all VMs, some running and some replicated (and turned off) from the other site. We can lose entire site and still have all our data safe.

Then we have W2K8R2 BackupExec 12.5 server in one of the sites, with tape library, which could be connected to iSCSI volumes holding replicated files. All volumes are VMFS and contain *.VMDK, *.VMX and so on. We want to dump these replicas to tape.

What would be the best way to mount these VMFS volumes in read only mode so we can back them up to tape? Only free solutions can be considered, and only ones that won't require redesign of already existing processes.

It's ok to backup full files every time, backup window or amount of data is not an issue. Backup server has plenty of local storage if that needs to be used for some reason.

Thanks
